High Quality Hexagon Head Screw - Hot Dipped Galvanized Wood Screws – Chuanyi Detail:

Description

A wood screw is a screw made up of a head, shank and threaded body. Since the entire screw is not threaded, it is common to call these screws partially threaded (PT). Head. The head of a screw is the portion that contains the drive and is considered the top of the screw. Most wood screws are Flat heads.A wood screw with a sharp point designed to attach two pieces of wood together. Wood screws are commonly available with flat, pan or oval-heads. A wood screw generally has a partially unthreaded shank below the head. The unthreaded portion of the shank is designed to slide through the top board (closest to the screw head) so that it can be pulled tight to the board to which it is being attached. Inch-sized wood screws in the U.S. are defined by ANSI-B18.6.1-1981(R2003), while in Germany they are defined by DIN 95 (Slotted raised countersunk (oval) head wood screws), DIN 96 (Slotted round head wood screws), and DIN 97 (Slotted countersunk (flat) head wood screws).

APPLICATIONS

Wood screws are designed specifically for use in wood applications. The threads are designed to give the greatest drilling and holding power when screwing into wood. The gimlet point style allows easy hole starting, while the smooth shank at the top allows the screw to seal the pieces of wood together as the screw is tightened.

Wood screws are available in zinc-plated steel, brass, 18-8 stainless steel, and galvanized steel; in sizes from #2 to #18 and lengths from 1/2″ to 3″.

Wood screws are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments. Zinc-plated steel screws resist corrosion in wet environments. Black ultra-corrosion-resistant-coated steel screws resist chemicals and withstand 1,000 hours of salt spray.Coarse threads are the industry standard; choose these screws if you don’t know the threads per inch. Fine and extra-fine threads are closely spaced to prevent loosening from vibration; the finer the thread, the better the resistance.
