Introduction to Spring Washer

Spring washers are elastic components formed by metal stamping or bending, with a gap in the middle that has a certain degree of elasticity, and can be relied on to prevent loosening after installation. And its working principle is achieved through the pressure plate on the spring washer and the nut on the bolt. When the nut is installed, the spring washer is pressed against the surface of the thread. When the nut rotates, the washer is compressed, and the bolt is pressed against the nut to achieve the tightening effect of the fastener.Spring washers have a wide range of applications and can be applied in various fields such as machinery, construction, and automotive manufacturing.

Ⅰ. Material of spring washer

1. Iron spring washer: mainly composed of low-carbon steel, it is a commonly used spring washer material with good elasticity and strength, but it is brittle and has low tensile strength, and cannot be used in high-temperature environments.

2. Aluminum spring washer: The main component is high chromium aluminum, which has good strength and wear resistance.

3. Stainless steel spring washer: The main component is stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance, but is relatively brittle.

Ⅱ.Surface treatment of spring washers

The purpose of surface treatment is to improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of spring washers. Common surface treatment methods include galvanizing, spraying, electroplating, hot dip galvanizing,Oxidation blackening, etc. Among them, galvanizing is the most commonly used method. When galvanizing, we need to immerse the spring washer in a zinc solution to form a zinc layer on its surface, in order to achieve anti-corrosion effect.

Ⅲ.Precautions for using spring washers

1.Select the appropriate spring washer material and determine it based on the specifications and usage environment of the fastener.

2.Spring washers are a left hand helix and allow the thread to be tightened in a right hand direction only, i.e. a clockwise direction. When a left hand turning motion is applied, the raised edge bites into the underside of the bolt or nut and the part that it is bolted to, thus resisting turning. When installing the spring washer, pay attention to the correct installation position and direction to avoid inversion or misalignment.

3.It is necessary to regularly check the condition of the spring washer during use. If deformation, cracks, or corrosion are found, they should be replaced promptly.
